Library Extension - Update. New Room Now Ready!

Work started on our extension on 29th August 2017 and we felt that we should try to keep you up-to-date about developments.

The photos show the external building work as it progresses, in reverse order of time, from the most recent to the oldest.

Here's the situation on 3rd January 2018

The interior of the main extension has now been completed - there are still some bits and pieces to be done outside - and it can be used for activities!

Just for a change, here's a look at some of the internal work that's being going on (this picture also from 2nd November). Previously existing windows on the main extension side of the library have been bricked up and the walls are awaiting a final skimming of plaster and repainting. As you can see, we also have new radiators (the old, inefficient heating syatem having been replaced) but shelves holding part of our non-fiction collection have had to be removed (temporarily) from the walls. When work on the internal walls is finally complete, the job of returning the shelves and books will commence.
