Learners hitting the high notes with ukulele workshop
The popularity of the ukulele has steadily been on the rise in recent years and it’s certainly proving a hit in Scartho - with the introduction of three weekly classes.
An instrument synonymous with George Formby for those of a certain age, while perhaps other generations might think of Jake Bugg or Jack Johnson strumming on stage at festivals, a Grimsby-area chap has made it his passion for the past ten years.
Zak Whitehead has been teaching the ukulele full time for over a decade, which is quite a departure from his freight shipping career. He explained more about why he chose the ukulele above other more obvious instruments.
