We celebrate our 600th member

Scartho library welcomed its 600th member when a visitor from London walked through the doors.

Martin Macpherson said: "It was purely by chance I happened to be the 600th person to join the library.

"I was visiting friends in the area and I was really impressed with how the community is behind it.

"A lot of libraries in London have closed, it's a good model that could be transferred".

Older people's service co-ordinator Lynne Smith said: "We're delighted that the community have responded so warmly and supported us in so many different ways - donating books, baking scones, cutting grass, emptying bins.

"To reach 600 in such a short time shows us how much the library is needed. We're heartened by how much the community is behind us and delighting in how things are moving forward".

As Martin only visits once a year he made use of the reference section on this occasion.

"I was too scared to take a book in case I can't get back to return it", he joked.
